George Miller Coble's Obituary
George Miller Coble, a resident of Broken Arrow, passed away January 17, 2021 at the age of 92. He was born July 26, 1928 in San Diego, Ca. and grew up body surfing the waves in Venice Beach, Ca. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 -1951, during the Korean War. He was stationed on the USS LSMR 401 Allied Warship during his service. George married the love of his life, Sylvia Lucretia Dobbs, in September 1952 and From that moment on they were inseparable.
He joined the Tulsa Fire Department in 1961 and loved being a firefighter and advanced up the ranks to Deputy Drillmaster before retiring in 1982.
George was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason and belonged to Tulsa Lodge 71 for over 50 years.
He loved fishing and in his younger days you would find a fishing pole in his hand every chance he got. He also loved solving crossword puzzles. In his later years you could always find a crossword puzzle in his hand or near his side. Most of all, he had an unwavering love for God and took pride in instilling that love in his children as they grew.
He was preceded in death, wife, Sylvia Dobbs Coble; father, George Miller Coble Sr.; mother, Dovey Phillip’s Coble and sister, Eleanor.
Survivors include his daughters Cathleen Keasling of Del City and Cynthia Yocham of Broken Arrow; son, Michael Coble of Broken Arrow; three grandchildren, Kevin Keasling, Eric Kidwell and Sarah Kidwell.
