George "Rhett" Foster's Obituary
George “Rhett” Foster was called to be with the Lord on the morning of April 27, 2016 at the age of 70. Rhett was born on January 17, 1946 to Dean Hiett Foster and Norma Jean Winslow Foster in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Central High School and graduated in the Class of 1964.He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years and retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He met the love of his life, Sandra in the summer of 1964 and they were married in 1967. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He started working for Safeway when he was 16 years old and worked his way up from package boy to non-food and health and beauty aids buyer. He worked at Bud’s Family Foods and most recently, at Walmart Neighborhood Market until his illness required him to retire.In his early years, he loved playing the saxophone in a band with his friends at local clubs. He enjoyed inventing things and had numerous patents, one of which, was featured on the Today Show. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean “Jack” Foster and Norma Jean Foster. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Foster; two daughters, Kimberly Paige Stewart and Heather Deanise Jain and husband, Sushant; grandson, Zachary Christian Speegle; granddaughter, Alison “Peanut” Jain; brother, Doug Foster and wife, Barbara; sister, Deana Hulsey and husband, George; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.Visitation will be 2:00 PM-8:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2016 with family to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM and Monday, May 2, 2016 from 8:00 AM-8:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Rhett’s memory to MD Anderson Prostate Cancer Research Program.
