George Wayne Rackleff's Obituary
George Wayne Rackleff , 94 , of Tulsa , passed on the 22nd of October , 2017 at Brookdale of Cedar Ridge in Broken Arrow. He was born on April 29, 1923 in Locust Grove , Oklahoma to George W. Sr. and Lena ( Thompson ) Rackleff . He served in theArmy Air Force during WWII participating in seven campaigns in the European theatre during the invasion of France in 1944 and received numerous service decorations including silver and bronze service stars for his service . Upon his honorable discharge, he attended Northeastern University, where he met and married his wife of 66 years Mary Nell ( Jamison ) Rackleff . Upon graduating he taught school in , at the time, Mary’s hometown of Beggs , Oklahoma . After settling in Tulsa , he began an engineering career working for American Airlines as a drafting engineer and then later for North American Rockwell . While at Rockwell he received recognition for his work on, as well as patents for, his designs that were used by NASA in the Apollo Space Program during their missions to the moon . After leaving Rockwell, George embarked on a career in Residential Construction and Development .He developed several subdivisions in Tulsa and Broken Arrow and was perceived as a premier home builder .He was a past member of the Home Builders Association serving as a Board Member and received numerous recognitions for his service to the Association as well as the homes he built.Survivors include his three sons Jim Rackleff and wife Brenda , Joe Rackleff , and Jack Rackleff and wife Patricia ; grandsons Tyler and wife Suzanne , Justin and wife Chelsea; great grand children Aidan , Stella and Everett , all of Tulsa as well as numerous Nephews and Nieces , who he made certain to let each of them know that that they were his “Favorite” . Preceded in death by his Parents , wife Mary Nell Rackleff , siblings Richard Rackleff , Floy Johnson , Bill Rackleff ,Rupert Rackleff and Mildred Livesay ; daughter in law Sherry Rackleff.Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, October 29th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held on October 30th, 2017 , at 12:30 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers include Tyler Rackleff , Justin Rackleff , Aidan Rackleff , Richard Rackleff , George Johnson Kenny Eason .
