George Charles Soukup's Obituary
George Charles Soukup a resident of Broken Arrow, passed away June 4, 2018, at the age of 77 due to pancreatic cancer. He beat his cancer journey by never losing his sense of humor and love of family, friends and life. George was born February 22, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Charles Edward and Hertha Caroline Soukup. He earned an electrical engineering degree from Purdue and continued his education obtaining a double masters at the University of Wisconsin and University of Phoenix. He had a successful career as an engineer at Allis Chalmers, US Electrical Motors, Emerson and Centrilift. He had a passion for designing and building motors, was a mentor to many and poured his heart and soul into his 44 year career.George had a love of cars, especially corvettes. He has owned a corvette since 1964. He spent much of his free time in the garage working on projects and cars. He was extremely handy and could fix anything and everything. He enjoyed his free time playing cards, golfing, breakfast with friends, fishing in Florida, and vacationing with his family.George will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. George is preceded in passing by his parents. He is survived by his spouse, Claudia Soukup; daughter, Cheryl Bartelt and her husband, Bret; son, John Soukup and his wife, Daniela; daughter, Susan Soukup; daughter, Carolyn Sexton and her husband Andrew; grandchildren, Bradley, Amy and Will Bartelt, Noah and Sophie Soukup and Luke, Grace and Abigail Sexton and numerous other family members and friends.Memorial Mass will be 10 am, Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Broken Arrow.Donations in George’s honor may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research @ http://pancan.org/ orSt. Benedict Catholic Church Endowment Fund @ http://www.saintben.com/online-giving/ orBroken Arrow Neighbors @ http://www.baneighbors.org/
