George McClellan Tune's Obituary
George McClellan Tune, with his family surrounding him, passed from this life that lately was so full of suffering for him, into a glorious eternal life with God on Wednesday January 17th , at St. John’s Hospital, Tulsa. George was born to Andrew F. and Beatrice (Stimson) Tune on January 6th, 1927, in Gans, OK, the fourth of ten children. He quit school in the eighth grade to work to help support the family. In his mid-teens, George went to California, where he was helped by a relative to learn auto repair. It came very naturally to him, as he had a real gift for it. When he returned to Oklahoma, he met and married Ila Mae Earp, on April 17, 1948. They were married for fifty-five years, until her death in 2003. In the early 1960’s, George attended a General Motors automotive diagnostic competition at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, and placed second in the nation. In 1968, he purchased from Joe Brooks his auto repair shop at 11th and Atlanta. George had many loyal customers, many of which became good friends, because of his honesty and fairness. He operated the business until his retirement in 1989. He was an avid part-time rancher; he loved to keep horses and cows, and felt very much at home in the out-of-doors. He had a part-time job delivering flowers that he loved because it brought happiness to people and kept him busy. George
