Alvstad, Gerald Dean's Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” Dean Alvstad, 84, of Broken Arrow, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and faith.
Born in 1941, Jerry lived a life marked by quiet strength and joyful purpose. He married his high school sweetheart, Carlotta, and together they built a beautiful life over 64 years of marriage—a testament to enduring love and partnership. Their bond was the cornerstone of a family that continues to thrive and carry forward their values.
Jerry was a man of many passions. He found joy in fishing, golfing, woodworking, crafting not just projects, but memories. A loyal fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins, he cheered with heart, even when the scoreboard didn’t. But above all, his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play sports. Whether in the stands or on the sidelines, Jerry was their biggest fan, always present with a proud smile and encouraging words.
After retiring, Jerry dedicated his time to service, volunteering for 15 years at St. Francis and faithfully giving his Wednesdays to his church. His commitment to helping others was a reflection of his deep faith and generous spirit.
Jerry survived by his loving children: Penny Gravitt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Mike and Michelle Alvstad of Tarpon Springs, Florida; and Jackie and Randy Ferguson of Highland Park, Colorado. He was a proud grandfather to Zachary (Jacky) and Allie Alvstad, Nate and Luke Ferguson, and a delighted great-grandfather to Jackson Alvstad. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carlotta and his son-in-law Jimmy Gravitt.
Jerry’s life was a masterclass in kindness, humility, and devotion. He leaves behind a family who will carry his legacy forward with the same grace and strength he showed every day. His memory will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, and the love he poured into every moment.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
