Gerald "Jerry" Francis Doody's Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” Francis Doody, age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at University Village in Tulsa, Ok. Jerry was born on October 11, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois to James J. and Beatrice M. (Kerwin) Doody. He was a 1957 graduate of St. Leo High School. Jerry served in the Army reserves from August 4, 1962 to May 31, 1968.
He married Mary L. Salisbury on September 19, 1964, in Chicago, Il. And together they had three daughters and a son. He began his life-long career in insurance in 1964 as a commercial property underwriter at Home Insurance Company in Chicago. From there he worked at several other insurance companies and agencies including Chubb Insurance Group, Kemper Insurance Group, and eventually finishing his career by retiring from Chandler, Frates & Reitz (CFR) in 2009. His career also led to several moves around the country including New Jersey, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. During his time in insurance he obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certifications, serving the Northeastern Oklahoma Chapter of CPCU as president from 1993-1994.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, James and Beatrice, his brother James J. Doody, Jr and his son Gerald F. Doody, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and three daughters: Kathleen Brown and husband Marcus, Kelly Raley, and Trish Beavers and husband Brad. He was the proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Paul and Josh Brown, Jacob Raley, and Laura and Kyleigh Beavers. He is also survived by his two nieces: Eileen Angel and Peggy Sells, as well as two nephews: Michael and James Doody.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on September 12th at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Ok. Funeral services will be held on September 13th at 3:00 PM at Floral Haven as well. Jerry will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow.
Jerry, our husband, father, and grandfather will be greatly missed, from his sense of humor to the love he gave to us all. We love you.
