An employee at Gerald's shop once told me he was the kind of man that if you were sweeping the floor & the dustpan broke & you asked Gerald for a new one he'd say use some cardboard... but if you didn't have enough to pay rent or buy groceries he didn't hesitate to help you out. Thought I'd share that
One of my life regrets is that I met Jerry and Sharon far too late in my life, however, I truly cherish the time I spent getting to visit with Jerry. I’ll remember always the sage advice he gave me as his future sister-in-law. What a wise man! I grew to love him in a very short time! I even think he liked me, too. As for Sharon, I expect more quality “good times” with her. At our ages, who knows for how long, but we will for sure make it happen. I know Gerald will smile at us every time we get together, especially if we have his baby brother, Verl, in the mix. ♥️ So long Gerald/Jerry! I love you. He wasn’t the only one to give nicknames…
I loved that old man. His stories, especially ones regaled by my dad (pictured) ABOUT him, always filled me with joy and mirth to those who happen to be present at the time. From boat anchors to locksmiths and lawnmower sulkies, he had some kind of experience with every thing. He will be missed for sure - but my own kids and grandkids (whom he always asked about) know lots of stories about Rackley, so his memory will live long in the Martin clan. Good bye, Santy Clause. I’ll miss you.
Rackley was the John Wayne of Tulsa with his tough persona with the tenderest heart. He was always there for a friend in need doing whatever he could do to help Especially if it had four legs and floppy ears.
