Gerald Lee White's Obituary
Gerald Lee White, age 81, a resident of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Clarehouse in Tulsa. He was born September 9, 1936, in Garfield, AR to James Monroe and Mabel Ann (Turney) White and was the younger of two children. He was a 1954 graduate of Rogers High School, where he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (“FFA”), and worked at Western Auto. In 1955, he moved with his family to Tulsa, OK where he met and married Janice M Brandon in 1958. They had three children.His career was primarily at Allied Paint for 27 years, and was involved in the oil, chemical and atomic Workers Union Local 166 where he served as president for a term and was involved in league bowling with his co-workers for local 166. He also worked at Rogers Galvanizing Company/North American Galvanizing Company for 17-1/2 years. Gerald was also involved in the United Steel Workers Of America.Gerald lived life to its fullest through simple pleasures ‑ being outdoors, watching birds/animals, reading the newspaper and magazines, watching television shows, and spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included tinkering with cars, gardening and woodwork. He will be remembered by his strong, giving, and generous spirit that will live on through everyone who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed.He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Norma Jean and husband John; wife Janice May (Brandon) after 50 years of marriage; and son-in-law Steven D. Fitzgerald. He is survived by three daughters: Diane E. Abdulqader and husband Mufid; Donna J. Ashworth and husband Kenneth; Kris R. Fitzgerald; two nephews; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018, at 12:30 PM, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel followed immediately by interment at Floral Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clarehouse, 7617 S Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.
