Geraldine Molander's Obituary
Geraldine Molander died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at University Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 95. She was born October 16, 1914 in Stilwell Oklahoma to Louis Jack and Floe Louise Bohannan. She married Ralph Molander on October 8, 1944 and he preceded her in death in July, 1961. She was also preceded in death by her two beloved sisters, Elaine Gill (Tulsa) and Ann Peterson (Corvallis, OR), one niece, Suzanne Peterson, and one great grandniece. She is survived by nine nieces and nephews: Joyce (Marvin) Hamm of Wells, Kansas, Jerry Ann (Jerry) Shimp of Bixby, Oklahoma, Jim (Mary Lou) Gill of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Joe (Ann) Gill of Bixby, Oklahoma, Jayne Bowen of Bixby, Oklahoma, Donna (Paul) Moessner of Columbia, Missouri, Kristen (Donald) Carlson of Lindsburg, Kansas, Vera Jean Spinks and Charles Anderson of Virginia, fifteen great nieces and nephews, and thirty great great nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Tahlequah, Oklahoma High School and Northeastern Oklahoma University with degrees in Spanish and Biological Science. She completed graduate work at both the University of Texas and the University of Kansas. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1941, where she was a chemist for CPC International for 36 years. After retiring from CPC she worked as a travel agent and tour director for Gaslight Travel. She thoroughly enjoyed her travels throughout the world. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities, a member of the Missouri State Association of Parliamentarians, serving as state secretary and state treasurer, a Past Matron of Swope Park #560, Past District Deputy of Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.), and Past Grand Matron of O. E. S. of Missouri in 1965-66. She was a committee member for General Grand Chapter and also served as parliamentarian, a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Past Queen of Apron Temple of Daughters of the Nile and served as Supreme Chaplain of the Supreme Temple, Daughters of the Nile. She moved to Tulsa in 1992 and immediately became involved in the community. She became an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was President of the Hillcrest Volunteer Auxiliary, served on the Hillcrest Medical Center Foundation Board, and President of the Oklahoma Hospital Association Volunteers. She sought out opportunities to serve as a volunteer in her new community. She moved to University Village and was an active participant in the life of “The Village.” In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Masonic Home of Missouri Western Unit, Grand Chapter of Missouri, Marilyn Woods, Grand Secretary, P.O. Box 1065, High Ridge, Missouri 63029-1065. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 9th at 4:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1244 South Utica Avenue with an Order of Eastern Star Service, held on Thursday, December 10th, 2:00 p.m, Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri with interment following. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 8th, 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
