Before Jerri was my sister-in-law, she was my friend. She never stopped being either one. My first memories of her are from when we were kids. Before I could drive, she would drive to my house and pick me up so I could go roller-skating with our friends, sometimes twice a week. She was one of the best skaters! We also spent time at her house just hanging out and sometimes having sleepovers with a few other friends.
We spent time together as adults, too. Jerri was a great cook and loved having family over for meals, often followed by playing Scrabble or card games. She was a good sport, and we laughed a lot together.
Jerri was a compassionate person, evidenced in part by her work with the Red Cross. She traveled to many places over the world to help provide aid after disasters.
Her love for family was one that will leave a mark for many generations. Her kids, grandkids and great grandkids will make the world a better place because of the example she was to them.
My heart breaks for those closest to her, and my prayer is that their memories of her will give them comfort.
