Gertrude "Gertie" Davis' Obituary
Gertrude “Gertie” Davis, 96, of Tulsa, died on Thursday, January 16, 2014. She was born at Big Cabin, Oklahoma on November 14, 1917, the daughter of Marshal and Lois Freeman. On August 30, 1945, she married Delbert Davis in Tulsa. Gertie loved and was completely devoted to her family. She enjoyed sewing and crossword puzzles. Over the years, she had done a lot of volunteer work in the Christian church, and also taught child care to various girl scout groups. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Salyers, and her husband, Emmit, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Pam Cornwell, and her husband, Ronnie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nine grandchildren, Bobby Chance, Brian Chance, Faith Reeves, Joel Reeves, Lonnie Salyers, Tracy Salyers, Michele Jones, Justin Cornwell, and Caleb Cornwell, twenty two grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sharon K. Reeves, brothers, Nelson Freeman, Kenneth Freeman, Johnny Freeman, Wayne Freeman, and Clifford Freeman, and sister, Lillian Bankhead. Memorial donations may be made in Gertie’s name to The Salvation Army.
