Gil Shelton's Obituary
Gilbert Wallace Shelton, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2020 with family at his side. He was born on June 19, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Irven Wallace Shelton and Vivian Ann Denny Shelton. Graduating from Maysville High School, he gained not only a diploma but also a growing relationship with the love of his life, Glennda Ann King. They married on August 10, 1962 and remained married 57 years.
Gil’s years were filled with service in the Army National Guard, work as an Industrial Engineer, design or implementation of numerous household construction projects, and time lovingly spent with family. Devoting himself to providing for his family, he served as a living model of self-sacrifice for the good of others. Gil enjoyed the fellowship of other Christian believers throughout his life in the various places he lived. Participating in men’s Bible study and other small groups, most recently at Fellowship Bible Church, Tulsa, brought him both joy and friendships he treasured.
Gil is survived by his wife, Glennda, his daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Matthew Hewett, his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Garrett and Stephanie Shelton, and his grandchildren, Ashleigh Hewett, Nick Shelton, Austin Hewett, and Madison Shelton.
A family graveside memorial service will be held in southern Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Fellowship Bible Church Missions Fund at fbctulsa.ccbchurch.com/goto/giving or to The
Gideons International at gideons.org.
