Glade Estel "Okie" Hinnen's Obituary
Glade Okie Estel Hinnen, 88, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009. Born October 4, 1921 in Oklahoma City to Harry and Waunita Hinnen-Mapes. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Gladys Waddell in Oklahoma City on March 6, 1940. He started Okie’s Asphalt in 1968 and Okie’s Parking Lot Maintenance in 1994; both companies are still operating today by his three sons. He was a devoted charter member and Deacon of Parkland Baptist Church. In 1975 the Tulsa Fire Department presented Okie with the honor and a plaque for “Unselfish Dedications and Assistance to Tulsa Firefighters”. In 1987, he was presented with the “Citizen of the Year” award by the Oil Capital Chamber of Commerce. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Gladys and a sister, Eula Anthony. The Lord, Family and Friends were the most important things to Okie and he will be missed deeply.Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 17, at Parkland Baptist Church at 2:00PM. Harvard Tulsa, OK 74115.Survived By: Survived by his three sons, Glade Hinnen and wife, Linda, Ron Hinnen and wife, Diane and Gary Hinnen, all of Tulsa; his sister, Wanda Adams of Vian, OK; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren.
