G. Ethelene Fortner's Obituary
Ethelene has passed away at the age of 92. Ethelene was born Dec. 30. 1931 at a farm north of Salina, OK. She was the 5th child of Lige and Ethel Cagle. When she was 14, her youngest sibling Linda was born. From then on she became known as “Sis” to many of her family. She was always interested in education and the arts and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University. And worked at Tulsa Public Schools. She was often found with a pen or paintbrush in her hand. She had numerous poems and articles published. She was also a good painter and artist. She took art classes at TU and even had a sculpture win second place at the Gussman Art student show at TU. She also was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved and will be missed by many family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Wilson Fortner, Her father and mother, Lige Cagle and Ethel Cagle, And her sisters Isabelle, Anabelle, and Jane.
She is survived by her brother Paul Cagle and sister Linda Cagle Carnes, 2 children, Edris Fortner Lamb and Jimmie “Mitch” Fortner, 4 grandchildren, Lory Fortner, Angela Severn, Sarah Lamb, and Troy Fortner. Some great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Friday, May 3rd at Floral Haven Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, Mary 4th at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
