Her only sister, Jean, preceded her in death. She worked in New York City in the 1940’s and had many fond memories from those years – seeing the Statue of Liberty and The Empire State Building every day, going to Yankee Stadium where she saw Joe DiMaggio play, ice skating at Rockefeller Center, watching the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall and seeing many original stage plays such as Oklahoma and Carousel. Her most memorable experiences of that time was celebrating the end of WWII and seeing the ticker tape parade with General Eisenhower and watching the Queen Mary sail up the Hudson River bringing the troops home.In 1949, Gladys and her parents, made the decision to move to California, to join her sister Jean and her husband John. In 1950, she met Jack Robertson, and was married in the same year, so she has been Gladys Robertson all her life. In 1955, they moved to Dallas, and in 1962 moved to Tulsa which has been home ever since. Her husband preceded her in death in 1981.Her greatest joy has always been spending time with her family- four children, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was always an avid reader, a big New York Yankee and Atlanta Braves fan, and loved doing outdoor adventures with her family. Even in her eighties, she was riding an inner tube with her grand kids, even though she couldn’t see the boat without her glasses. She was always active in her church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and was active in the United Methodist Women. To quote Granny Goose – “My story – a good childhood, the opportunity to do and see many things, a husband I loved very much, four wonderful children – all different and all special – now seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
