Gladys Franzmeier Murphy's Obituary
Gladys Franzmeier Murphy was born May 13, 1932, to Walter and Edith (Beckfield) Franzmeier, in Albert City, Iowa. Gladys passed from this life at the age of 82, February 25, 2015. Gladys lived in Albert City, Iowa until she graduated high school. She married to Robert (Bob) Murphy on January 24, 1953 at Christ the King Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gladys was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church from 1967 until the Lord called her home. Gladys spent 1000’s of hours in volunteer service, including driving for Meals on Wheels and being a driver coordinator, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority as president and treasurer, Oklahoma School for the Blind as sponsoring children and raising money for the school and answering phones for St. Jude’s Research Hospital.Her most important events were marry the love of her life, Bob and adopting two daughters, Melinda and Mary. She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family. Gladys is survived by her husband: Bob Murphy; two daughters: Melinda Postoak and Mary Churchill and husband, Don; grandchildren: Brandi Edelman and husband Bryan, Joe Baker, Brett Murphy and wife Erin, Erica Lewis and husband Jared, Brittney Lervig and husband Keith, Ashley Ojeda, and Caitlin Postoak; great-grandchildren: Taylor Edelman, Tristan Edelman, Abby Edelman, Emma Baker, Anthony Lewis, Jordan Lewis, Reagan Murphy, and Flynn Murphy; and sister Dorothy Kennedy. Gladys is preceded in death by parents; sister: Frances Lessmeier.Donations can be made in Gladys’ honor and name to the Meals on Wheels.Visitation will be held 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Visitation Room in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.A celebration of life ceremony will be held 12:30 pm, Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
