Glenda Currieo's Obituary
Glenda was born in Tulsa, OK on November 23, 1944, to Samuel Cletus and Laura Helen Wood Threadgill. She graduated from Nathan Hale High in 1963. In junior high and high school, she enjoyed playing the accordion, travelling, and competing. She won many awards at various local, regional, and national events, including the annual Heart of America Accordion Festival, where she won “Festival Queen” one year. She loved the excitement, the costumes, and the competition. She always said that the accordion was her identity as a teenager.
She married Charles Ronald Dodson in 1963 and bore two children, Charles Dodson, Jr. (Carrie) and Ann Dodson Lee (Brenton).
In 1972, she married Royce Currieo, and they blended their families with his children, Steven Currieo (Janna) and Sheryl Currieo Chandler (Doug).
Glenda survived Royce, who passed in 2020, and she leaves 4 children (listed above), 11 grandchildren (listed by birth order within family groups) Chuck’s: Xavier, Annabelle, Zachary; Ann’s: Bryson, Connor; Steve’s: Ashley, Allissa, Ariel, Andrew; Sheryl’s: Bethany, Nathan; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her younger brother, Sam (Carolyn) and their son, Samuel John, and her twin grandnieces.
Glenda greatly valued her long-time membership at Asbury Church in Tulsa. She enjoyed serving her church and the Tulsa community in several capacities, including greeting at services, Bible studies, Sunday School - The Mariner’s Class, and Healing Hats Ministry. Her relationship with Christ was most important to her.
She had a long career in retail, including many years at JCPenney. Glenda also loved to travel, both across the U.S. and abroad.
Glenda passed away February 3, 2026 after a brief but rapidly progressing illness. Her family, friends, and loved ones find great comfort and peace in her secure eternity with Christ, and in the coming Resurrection.
No formal services will be held at this time.
