Goldie Lowery's Obituary
Goldie Lowery, 68, passed from this life on November 16, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Goldie was born on February 16, 1954, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Herschel Kelley and Ora Lee Porte.
From a call away, to a kneel and pray. How sweet. How lucky. How blessed we are to have existed at the same time. I often deterred my wandering mind about a time when we wouldn’t be together. Your light is priceless. You uplifted a room when you got the chance–and took the chance when we needed it most. That’s how many remember you. They remind us of how sweet and wise you were to them. You adopted family and accepted those who either needed or embellished a spiritual light. Your work ethos and will to thrive were unmatched. We can remember those times when you made the difficult and critical decisions that would shape our well-being.
One of the notable statements you often made was to take care of ourselves. “You do you.” It reverberates in the mind of someone caught up in the minutiae of everyday life. “Slow down and take your time; don’t rush.” “Make sure you eat you something and get the rest you need.” “Take deep breaths.” Your embrace healed the hurt soul. Your shoulders had endless space for the rivers of tears that flowed. During times we thought we knew it all, you’d share a profound and righteous message we might not have known we needed. Now we carry this torch of love, empathy and wisdom as we trek this dark landscape that so desperately needs our light.
Goldie is survived by her children, Kassey Kelley, Shanterial Kelley, Shonda Kelley, Marcus J. Kelley, and Rasheed Kelley; siblings, Emma Robinson, Ethel Hill, Herschel Kelley, Rosie Lewis, and Jimmie Kelley; and numerous other family members
