Goldie Ziegler's Obituary
Goldie Trapatsas was born on January 15, 1943, in the village of Thessaloniki, Greece. Due to the increasing strife of World War II, her mother moved her and her brother, Nick to the United States aboard a US warship, to escape the danger surrounding them. After arriving at Ellis Island, they moved to San Francisco, where she spent her childhood years. At age 18, she moved to NYC and began a career in banking, where she fell in love with Albert Ziegler. The two were married in1963 and had 4 beautiful daughters within 5 years. The growing family moved to the North Shore of Long Island where they built a life for their family until moving to Oklahoma in 1979 for work with American Airlines. Although the marriage ended in divorce, Al and Goldie have remained close, as they watched their children grow and create families of their own.Goldie’s only focus in life was her children. She made sure all of her children had a strong Catholic faith foundation, and never missed a day of mass herself until she became ill, only missing 2 or 3 masses even then. Once her children were grown, grandchildren were number one. She has been to countless football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball games, swim meets, theatre productions, and Greek dance festivals. These were her clubs and activities. The greatest joy she had in life was watching her children and grandchildren flourish. She was a mother figure not only to her children, but to many of their friends, as well as coworkers at Sam’s Club. Her unconditional love and support is what will be missed most.
