Gordon Clayton Ohler's Obituary
OHLER, Gordon Clayton, 80, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, in Tulsa, OK. Born on July 20, 1924, in Bartlesville, OK to Clayton and Charlotte Ohler.He served honorably during World War II as a member of the Eighth Air Force, 96th Bomb Group. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tulsa Post 577. After the war, he studied at the University of Houston and worked as a draftsman. He married Vivian Young on April 24, 1954, in Tulsa, OK. They enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage.He was an avid fan of Bob Wills, following his career from its early days at the Cain’s Ballroom and later at festivals in Turkey, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, Veterans Field of Honor, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tulsa VFW Post 577, 1109 E. Sixth St., Tulsa, OK 74120.Survived By: his wife, Vivian; daughter, Conni Eckstein of Norman, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Larry Clark of Joplin, MO; grandchildren Chris Clark, Jennifer Clark, Neill Clark, Tim Eckstein, and Damien Eckstein; brother and sister-in-law Wilson and Peggy Ohler of Claremore, OK; sister Edwina Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
