Gracie Sylvia Cary's Obituary
Gracie S. Cary died Friday, October 16, 2009, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 92. She was born October 8, 1917 in Osage County to Joseph E. and Effie C. (Stark) Rice. She graduated from Burbank High School, where she played on the basketball team which reached the state finals, and then attended Oklahoma A & M College. She married William Frank Cary on November 13, 1939. Gracie treasured her family and her church and was actively involved in the Girl Scouts, teaching Sunday School, and genealogy. She is survived by her children, Sylvia Bevers, Robert Cary, Jimmy and MaryAnne Cary, and Peggy and Malcolm Taylor. Her surviving grandchildren are Joyce and Steve Florer, Ann Bruxvort, David and Elizabeth Bevers, David Cary, Paul Cary, Mark Cary, Sarah Cary, Benjamin and Amanda Cary, Cyrus Cary, Jennifer and Jason Yaksic, Nathaniel and Amberlee Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, as well as eleven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 20 at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
