Grayson Lee Rice Sr's Obituary
Grayson Lee Rice, Sr. 76, Plumber passed away September 20, 2014 in Cleveland, OH. He was born July 7, 1938 in Sand Springs, OK to Shelvie and Francis (McNair) Rice. Grayson and Yvonne raised two sons that they were very proud of. Grayson and Shawn have each earned advanced college degrees.Grayson was retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 430. He had worked as a plumbing journeyman and foreman on many projects. He also founded Niagara Plumbing and Mechanical along with his brother-in-law Jimmy Hamilton on their mutual birthday, July 7, 1988.Grayson loved his family, his profession and seeing people have a good time. Many people enjoyed his and Yvonne’s frequent parties. He loved to fish and to play music. Wherever he was he would always try to make it enjoyable for everyone. He was a builder of things as well as a builder of people, often teaching his skills to others and offering to help when he could. He built four homes and several swimming pools for his family and others. He was always coming up with some kind of project. He would say that sometimes the results were not what he wanted but that was a reason for another project.Later, after Yvonne’s death he moved to Vinita. He and Debbie Hamilton also widowed, shared a love of fishing during their 18 additional years of enjoyment.Grayson is survived by his sons, Grayson Lee Rice, and Shawn Nolen Rice, and his wife, Karen; Sisters, Rose Marie Hicks, Charlotte Jean Carnes, and Tammy Blevins; Brother, Shelvie Sam Rice, Jr.; Brother-in-law, Jimmy Hamilton, and his wife, Louise; Sister-in-law, Debbie Hamilton; many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years Yvonne Hamilton Rice; Father, Shelvie Sam Rice; Mother, Francis Zella McNair Rice; Brother, Danny Rice; Father-in-law, Nolen Hamilton; Mother-in-law, Roberta Hamilton; Brother-in-law, David HamiltonVisitation will 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Friday, September 26th, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow.Graveside Service will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 26th, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow.
