Gretchen Marie Callan's Obituary
Gretchen Marie Callan was born on February 19, 1944 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Albert and Alberta Bonnell. She was raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1962. After Graduating the University of Arkansas in 1966 she was a flight attendant for Pan American World Airways for 10 years while based in Washington D.C. and San Francisco, California. In 1976 she married David Callan and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1977. In 1990, they purchased Daniel Screw Products where she worked in various office capacities while raising their two children, Christine and Kurt. In 2008, Gretchen assisted Christine in opening Copa Vida Coffee in Durham, North Carolina. For a little over a year she was a partner and manager. In November of 2009, she was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer at Duke University Hospital. Gretchen returned to Tulsa in February of 2010 to continue treatment at Cancer Treatment Center of America where she died Saturday morning, October 23, 2010 at 2:15am. She is survived by husband David, son Kurt of Tulsa, daughter Christine of Durham and brothers Albert Bonnell, Robert Bonnell, and sister Bonnie Bonnell of Broken Arrow Oklahoma. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, October 26th at 10am at First United Methodist Church, Tulsa.
