Gus Ernest Neundorf's Obituary
Gus Ernest Neundorf was born April 14, 1916 in Garber, Oklahoma., one of five children born to Albert and Anna Neundorf. He passed from this life March 17, 2013 in Tulsa at the age of 96. Gus was raised and attended school in Garber, Oklahoma graduating in 1933. He attended Oklahoma A and M at Stillwater two years, and then Draughan Business College in Oklahoma City two years. He volunteered for the U.S. Army with the 45th Infantry Division and became a Staff Sergeant serving one year at Camp Barkley, Texas. On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor at Honolulu and World War II was declaredd. He joined the 90th Infantry Division in March 4, 1942 and was promoted to Warrant Officer, Junior Grade on September 4, 1942. He proudly served his country in France, Germany, Belgium and Luxemburg. He was discharged January 3, 1946 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, Head Quarter Division. He returned to Garber and spent several years in the farm equipment business in Perry Oklahoma. He worked in the United States Post Office in Oklahoma City and Hollywood, California becoming to Tulsa with the IRS In 1970. He retired from the IRS in May, 1982. Gus married Monell Williams on November 14, 1990, made their home in Tulsa where both were members of East Side Christian Church. Gus and Monell extensively making numerous trips to Napa Valley, California as well Alaska, Germany, Hawaii and every state in the U.S.. His passion was dancing, winning several honors in the art, and you could find him sharing that love with his many friends. He spent many years going to the 90th Infantry Division reunion his Army buddies. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion, life member in V.F.W. He survived by his wife Monell, two step sons, Thomas E. Williams,Jr. of Tulsa and Robert E. Williams of Tulsa. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, Carly and Carrie Williams and their children Connor and Caroline Williams, Bryan and Nicole Williams and their children Braden and Maddison and Lauren Williams, all of Tulsa. He leaves behind nieces and nephews , Velva Jean Hafner and husband Roger of Garber, Betty Warner and husband Bill of Perry, June Cromwell and son Ocean of Lamont, Colorado, Phillip Ogren of Boulder, Colorado, Elton Neundorf Jr. of Garber Oklahoma and many friends. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to East Side Christian Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
