Gwane "Pete" Oren Evans' Obituary
Pete Passed on Wednesday Night, May 8th, 2024 at Clarehouse Hospice Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
He was born on July 2, 1938 in Broken Arrow in the Ranch House of his parents – Gladys Hurst Evans and Oren Grant Evans on Robson Ranch where Oren was a Ranch Hand. Pete was married to Vivian Louise Evans (Horton) in 1958 who was his high school sweetheart. Pete graduated college from Northeastern State University with both his B.S and M.S and also advanced degrees in counseling, and administration.
A standout athlete at Catoosa H.S. where he received numerous awards and was the Football Captain where he crowned his future wife as Homecoming Queen. Pete went to Connors State College and played College Football and was listed as a J.C. All-American among many honors. Pete went on and became a Coach, an Administrator, a Counselor, a Business Owner, and much more where he received numerous awards and recognition for his achievements. Among his greatest achievements were his family, students, players, co-workers that he left a lasting impact.
He was predeceased by his parents Gladys and Oren, wife Louise, son Greg, brother Curtis, sister Florence, sister Doris, and sister Margaret. Pete is survived by daughter Debbie, son Kenny and wife Tammi, son Doug and wife Mena, sister Laura, sister Judy, sister-in -law Gail, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Services are to be held at Floral Haven, 6500 S. 129th E. Avenue in Broken Arrow on Friday May 17th at 12:30pm. Service will include memories from the Evans Family and Friends. Following the service will be a family gathering at Timber Ridge Cemetery (30356 S. 4130 Rd.- about 4 miles East of Catoosa) where he will be laid to rest next to Louise. In lieu of flowers family request donations to Clarehouse Hospice where Pete spent his final days.
