Obituary of Gwenan “Tex” ChildressGwenan “Tex” Childress was born in Crockett, Texas, on August 5, 1934, to Jess Childress and Marie Jones Childress. He attended Reagan High School in Houston, Texas, and went on to study at Bethany Nazarene College, Bethany, Oklahoma. He married Deloris Burns of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 28, 1954. They were married for 39 years before Deloris passed away. Tex and Deloris had two children, Doug and Brenda.On June 4, 1996, Tex married Virginia Chesney of Edmond, Oklahoma.Tex worked at American Airlines and went to Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, and held Aircraft and Powerplant licenses. After 38 years at American Airlines, Tex retired in January, 1996.He and Virginia spent the years of retirement traveling and sightseeing in the US and many other countries. He especially enjoyed being on cruises. Tex was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene in Tulsa, serving wherever he was needed.He is survived by his wife Virginia, son Doug Childress and wife Trudy of Choctaw, Oklahoma, daughter Brenda Harrison and husband Bob of Georgetown, Texas, step-son Clint Chesney and wife Amanda of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and step-daughter Christina Sellers and husband Matt of Midwest City, Oklahoma, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren and sister, Nelda Hancock of Huntington, TXVisitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 23rd, Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 24th, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
