Gwendole "Gwen" Watts Matteson Mayes' Obituary
Gwendole Mayes, born January 12, 1922 in Jenks, Oklahoma and passed away February 19, 2017 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Gwen was the oldest of two children born to Lawrence and Myrtle Watts. Gwen was born as a daughter of American Colonist and was actually born in a tent in Jenks because the family was traveling by stage coach fro work . From an early age Gwen learned to sew and later in life she made her children’s and grandchildren’s clothing and even made doll clothes to match their outfits. Gwen was married to the love of her life, JT Mayes together the couple had two daughters. The most important thing to Gwen was her family. She was studying her genealogy extensively. She had completed her entire family tree! Gwen had several opportunities to travel and especially loved going on cruises. Gwen will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Gwen is preceded in passing by her spouse JT Mayes; her parents, Lawerence and Myrtle Watts and her brother Lawrence M. Watts. Gwen is survived by her daughters, Lynnie Haddan and Lorie Coffelt; grand-children, Elisha Adams and her husband Brandon; William Coffelt Jr. and Jennifer Coffelt Dumas Miles and her great-grandchildren, Brooke, Claire and Connor and numerous other family members and friends.There will be a graveside service , Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Haven Cemetery in the garden of Faith.
