Haile Smith's Obituary
Haile Selassie Smith was born in Cleveland, OH into the family of Herbert and Lillian Burkett. She was reborn in 1962 into the family of God.Holly, as she was known to family and friends, grew up in Chicago and later moved to Milwaukee where she along with other siblings worked for their dad in his restaurant, Black King’s Barbecue. It was in Milwaukee that she met her future husband, Jesse L. Smith in December, 1956. They dated for 10 months and married October 19, 1957. They were married for 57 years until he went home to be with the Lord..Her legacy: She trusted her Precious Heavenly Father and considered Him Faithful. And while she stood alone for years as the only one in her family who knew God, she stood in intercession on their behalf. Over the years they too came into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ: her husband, parents, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews are the fruit of those prayers, which are still being manifested.Words cannot express the impact she has had on the lives of those around her, and if she has ever prayed for you, you would remember.Haile Smith leaves to follow in her footsteps, her daughters, Sonya, Sabrina and Sonora, son Sean and daughter by marriage, Denia; grandchildren, David and Simone, sisters, Florence and Sandra; brother, Herbert; a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. She used to say she is alright because the All Right One is in her, and now she is more than alright because she is in the holy presence of the All Right One!
