Harold David Gardner's Obituary
Harold David Gardner passed away on October 13, 2019, at the age of 85.Harold was born on April 12, 1934, in Fair Grove, Missouri, to Ernest and Vada (Prichard) Gardner. He was the youngest of eight children. Harold was a member of the Methodist Church and attended Elkland High School. After graduating in 1952, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably aboard the USS Essex for three years. On July 20, 1954, he married his pen-pal sweetheart, Shirley Hall. They had two children, Mark and Mary.Harold worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in Tulsa until it closed in 1994. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was known for his large collection of elephant figurines.Harold leaves behind his loving wife Shirley of 65 years; son Mark Gardner and wife Vicki; daughter Mary Glenn and husband Robert; granddaughters Rebecca Gardner and Kevin, Sarah Koehling and husband Brandon, Rachel Tibbett and husband Grant; eight great-grandchildren, Andre, Amylynn, Aidan, Bryson, Ethan, Gavin, Ruth, and James; one sister Maxine Mayfield/Reed; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Vada Gardner; brothers Douglas Gardner and Dwight Gardner; and sisters Louise Maxon, Betty Woods, Ilene Teague, and Mary Highfill.Harold will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Veterans Field of Honor.Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corp.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Harold’s memory.Alzheimer’s Association 2448 E. 81st St. Suite 3000 Tulsa, OK 74137
