Harry P. Kurtz's Obituary
Harry Paul Kurtz passed away February 25, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born March 14, 1926 to Harry George Kurtz and Henrietta Darr Kurtz. He lived with his beloved Aunt Mae and Uncle Wiggie before going in the service. He was enlisted in the Army Oct 30, 1945 and served until November 7, 1946. He was awarded the American Theater Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He married his first wife Margaret Ann Clevenger and had four children. He was a den leader for the Boy Scouts and the same for the Girl Scouts. He also helped with the youth at his church and sponsored youth trips. He was a draftsman for Skelly Oil Company for five years and then went to work for Warren Petroleum Company for 35 years retiring as drafting supervisor. He married his second wife Viola Arlene Maikson in June of 1970 and had a fifth child. He loved fishing, camping, boating, skiing and general lake fun. He was a great bowler. He was an excellent carpenter from making kitchen cabinets, spoon racks, and easel signs. He enjoyed working with wood as did his father. He also liked the bus trips with senior groups. He was a non-replaceable man. He was a member of the Al-Anon Family Groups for 24 plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife. He is survived by his wife Viola and children Paul David Kurtz of Knoxville, Tn., Rebecca Lynn Brown of Bedias, Tx., Patricia Anne Lambert of Oklahoma City, Ok., Sue Ann Butler of Tulsa, Ok., and Cynthia Paulette Carrasco of Tulsa, Ok. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Manry of Clayton, Ga., Sally Stewart of Tiger, Ga., and Pat Price of Oakton, Va. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Our hearts are full of love because we had him in our lives but broken because we have to go on without him for now. Memorial contributions may be made to Al Anon Family Groups 4867 S.
