Hartley "Mac" McLain's Obituary
Hartley 'Mac' McLain passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013. Hartley was born on April 5, 1923 in Sherburne, New York to his parents, Earl and Hazel McLain counting as the 3rd child of 6 children. He earned his diploma and then attended Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology. After graduation he began his career in aircraft mechanics as well as supervising over the American Airline in Tulsa. After 38 years, he eventually retired in 1984.Hartley also served within the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1947 during World War II. He achieved the ranking of Chief Petty Officer and earned the Victory Medical. Hartley married his sweetheart, Helen on July 13, 1947 in Holly, New York. Hartley took pride in his involvement with the Masonic Lodge. He is also proud of the birth of his children and his children's' success, and his achievement in becoming a private pilot. Hartley enjoyed life's simpler passions: fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Hartley was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Hazel McLain, his brothers, Stanley McLain, Leslie McLain, and Harvey McLain, sisters, Lauretta Cole, Kathleen Ehrmentraut, son-in-law Junior Dotson, and grandson John William McLain. Hartley is survived by his wife Helen McLain, his four children, Leslie Dotson, Bill McLain and spouse Lori McLain, Jean Logue and spouse LaRue Logue, and Debbie Ash and spouse Alfred Ash, and 7 grandchildren, Chris McLain, Skye McLain, Don Ed Logue, Dana Conner, Wes Dotson, Rita Sands, and Joe Sands.
