Harvey Ray Young's Obituary
Harvey Ray Young, age 80, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Harvey was born September 22, 1932 in Gridley, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents who immigrated from Brandenburg and Frankfort, Germany. After arriving in America, the spelling of their last name was changed from Jung to Young. Also preceding Harvey in death are his parents, Andrew F Young and Lydia Schneider Young. Brothers Ephriam (Skeet) Young, wife, Dorthy Young; Roy Young, Glen I Young, AF Young Jr, brothers in law, Raymond Botham, Howard Warner, and Harvey’s beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Finnegan. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Karen, daughter Jeanne Rae Finnegan (Jim), Tulsa; son Mark Young (Amy), Tulsa; grandsons, Kevin Finnegan, Dakota Young and Lance Young, Tulsa. Sisters Anna Marie Warner, Hutchinson, KS; Gladys Botham, Overland Parks, KS, Laura Louise Young, Lawrence, KS, Doris Norman (Richard), Longmont, CO, brother Howard Young (Karla), LeRoy, KS, sisters-in-law, Evelyn Young, LeRoy, KS, Wilma Young, Gridley, KS. Harvey was the coolest uncle to 35 nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Harvey was a friend to all he met. His huge, loving heart and broad shoulders touched many who knew him. He especially enjoyed the company of those who walked the mall, drank coffee, celebrated birthdays and solved the problems of the world. Harvey loved watching television, especially any sports. He was big fan of KU in Kansas and the Kansas City Chiefs, and had season tickets to the games when he lived in Kansas City. Harvey loved going to the soccer, baseball and football games of his grandchildren. Harvey will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Fly away home, Harvey.
