Helen Wauleua Fletcher's Obituary
Helen W. Fletcher was born on November 2, 1924 in Webbers Falls, OK. She was the 2nd child of Addie and James Lomon. She had 2 older half-brothers, a half-sister, an older brother, and a younger brother. She attended school in Braggs and Webbers Falls. Helen was an excellent student, graduating at the age of 16. After graduation, she taught first through eight-grades in a one-room school house in Webbers Falls where some of her students were her age and bigger than she was. In 1944, she married Eunice Fletcher and moved to a farm in the Arkansas River bottom. Six months later, they lost everything they had in a flood. They relocated to higher ground and continued their life together, welcoming a son, James Richard, in 1946, and a daughter, Wauleua Ann, in 1950. The family moved to Tulsa in 1951. In 1962, she began working for Levines Department Stores and continued with C.R. Anthony when they bought and merged the companies. She was a bookkeeper there until she retired in 1989. After retirement, she enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, and more time with her family. She was a member of Home Gardens Church of Christ. If you asked Helen for the most important accomplishments in her life she would tell you her 50-year marriage, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and the privilege of caring for her mother in her last years. Words to describer her is fiercely loyal, intelligent, independent, loving and ornery. She is survived by her son James Fletcher (Debi) of Guymon, OK, her daughter Wauleua Fletcher of Tulsa, OK, her grandchildren Joshua Fletcher (Shonna) of Grove, OK, Jocelyn Tillery (Jason) of Tulsa, OK, her great-grandchildren Justus, Harley, Sam Fletcher and Jaden and Jaxon Tillery, her many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
