Helen Grace Hamilton's Obituary
Helen Grace Hamilton, 85, of Tulsa, died at her home Tuesday, July 10, 2018. She was born in Jacksboro, Texas on July 13, 1932 to the parents of William Gentry Isaacs and Cassie Augusta Barnett.Helen and her husband Elston Hamilton and their three sons – Mike, Kevin and Kent – moved to Tulsa in 1963 from Bridgeport, Texas. She was a stay-at-home mom and tremendously active in the lives of her family and community. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Gracemont Baptist Church, and New Life Baptist Church over the past 55 years. Helen was passionate about music. She was a member of the church choirs, played the piano and also played hand bells. She also ministered to others by serving in the food pantry and benevolence ministries. Helen loved to travel to Branson with Elston, her sister Mayme, and brother-in-law Bobby. She also loved to snow ski and go to the lake with her family.Helen is survived by her three sons: Mike Hamilton, Kevin Hamilton and wife Sharon of Tulsa, Kent Hamilton and wife Marcelle of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kristen Hamilton, Kelsey Smith and husband Aaron Smith, Kayla Meachem and husband Joshua Meachem Sr., Kendall Zimmer and husband Scott Zimmer – all of Tulsa; Ansley Grace Hamilton, Barrett Hamilton and Jackson Hamilton of Plano, Texas; eight great-grandchildren: Joshua Meachem, Jr., Kayden Meachem, Jordyn Meachem; Alexis Zimmer, Tyler Zimmer, Cason Zimmer; Kamryn Smith, Khloey Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.Helen’s husband of 65 years followed her in death five days later. A joint Celebration of Life Service for both Helen and Elston will be held on July 21, at 11:00 a.m., at New Life Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the ministry of New Life Baptist Church where Helen and Elston were charter members.
