Helen Venora Harrington's Obituary
Helen “Cookie” V. Harrington, 85, was born to Joe and Clara Belle Shaw Bettinger in Bromide, Oklahoma in 1925. She passed away on January 30, 2011. Helen was the 7th of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her Husband of 50 years, Wayne; her daughter Randy Clyne: her parents and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by her only son, W. Scott Harrington; Two grandaughters, Tracy Beswick and Tonya Tuggle; a grandson Nicklaus Harrington; four great grandaughters and one great grandson; her sisters Ruth Peters, Thelma Keele, Betty Wilson and brothers Dan Bettinger and C.J. Bettinger. Helen worked for Skelly and Getty Oil companies as a bookeeper. She and her husband enjoyed going to OU football games and the horse races. She enjoyed music, loved working in her yard and exercised daily. She always looked forward to the annual family reunion of the Bettingers in Bromide each Father’s day weekend. She was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved them dearly. She will always be remembered as “Grandma Cookie”. A memorial-celebration of life will be held on February 12, 2011, 1 pm at Meadowbrook Country Club, where she was a long time member.
