Helen Irene Morgan's Obituary
Helen Irene Morgan Born September 13, 1923 passed on February 23, 2017 at the age of 93. Born to Samuel & Armita Coleman in Aransas Pass, Texas, moved to Mountainburg, Arkansas at the age of 10. Helen worked as a Tulsa Public Schools Cafeteria Manager for 28 years. Beginning at Hoover Elementary & retiring from East Central High School. She was the magic lady that could pinch hot rolls in each hand at the same time. She fed many OU Super stars such as Tony Casillas & many more. After retiring in 1985, Jack & her retired to their home at Chicken Creek on Lake Tenkiller to spend the last year they had together. They would have to make several trips back & forth to Tulsa for his Cancer treatments, but they enjoyed every minute they had together. She moved back to Tulsa in 1986 & got an apartment at The Galleria, where she made several new friends. Three ladies in particular were known as the “Golden Girls”: Kay Wolitarsky, Alma Cooley & Helen Morgan, they ran the whole show at the Galleria. The ring leader was Helen of course. Now they are all in Heaven together, probably trying to raise a little cane there. When Kay was gone & Alma needed to move to an assisted living center Mom followed her to Aberdeen Heights where they spent several good years together. Alma passed away in 2012 & shortly therafter Mom began to have some health problems & we had to find her a new home which ended up being Baptist Village of Owasso, Evergreen Care Center. When we wheeled her into the Center we new she found another Special place. Before we could get her room set up they took her down & gave her a Manicure & she was beaming when they brought her to her room. The entire Staff of the facility made her feel their deep level of love & caring. She had so many wonderful people caring for her they all showed her so much love we couldn’t ask for better people to take care of her. The dining room staff, which she told them all the time how they should be doing their jobs & they would listen to her till she was finished then give her a kiss on the forehead & continue with their day. The great office staff that would visit her all the time, Margaret Manley, that would sing Gospel Music with her at breakfast, to the greatest set of Nurses I’ve ever seen, Kacee, Shelley, Lisa, Brenda, & on & on, too many to name. She was “Granny” to them & she loved them all like they were her Granddaughters. Her final days she had special care from Seasons Hospice of Tulsa. The most loving & caring people in the World. From the Manager, Lisa to all of the day & night time sitters including Tonya, their love & caring are so deeply appreciated by the entire Family, words can’t express what a comfort they provided all of us.
