Helen Underwood's Obituary
Helen Underwood, 79, of Claremore, Oklahoma passed away on August 8, 2018. She was born on June 3, 1939 to Sam and Bernice Grayson. Helen dedicated herself to the church and taught Sunday School, Bible School, Children’s Church, and a number of ladies groups since she was very young. She and her husband Jack enjoyed weekly games of dominoes with a group of friends from church. In retirement, they loved traveling with family and friends to multiple destinations. Helen was a wonderful cook, and was known far and wide for her chocolate chip cookies.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Marion Jones and James Gaylor, and sister Lenora Fetter.She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Underwood; daughter Cathy and husband Donnie Brown, daughter Penny and husband David Nett; son Butch and wife Trudy Underwood; grandsons Brandon Roberts and Derek Nett; granddaughters Breck Roseborough, Brianne Smith, Erica Rhodes, Niki Elza, Brittany Mora, and Chelsea Simpson; and sister Joan and husband Terry Whyte.Donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Children’s Ministry Services of New Life Baptist Church of Claremore.A visitation will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home on Sunday, August 12, from 4 pm – 7pm.Services will be held in her honor at New Life Baptist Church located at 24525 Frederick Road in Claremore, Ok on Monday, August 13 at 10 am.
