My Uncle Henry is so very loved and missed! He was always my “Elvis-cool” Uncle. From his amazing pompadour hairdo to his gentle way of defending his nieces from the often ornery spirit of our dear cousin Tracy, he embodied a larger than life rock-star presence. Although Aunt Margie’s loud and dynamic scolding of “Tracy!” could temporarily deter a tease from escalating, Carolyn and I could always count on Uncle Henry to stop him in his tracks. (Rest assured, that same teasing did manage to give us a thicker skin, so no hard feelings cousin).
I was always proud to call him Uncle, but never so much as when I learned he was the owner of a grocery store! That was monumentally cool in my book! But, perhaps, coolest of all was seeing the love and affection he had for my Aunt Margie through the years. We were so blessed to witness such a beautiful marriage—one of steadfast commitment and solidarity no matter what life threw at them!
So, although Uncle Elvis (Henry) has left the building, he will never leave our hearts. I look forward with love to the heavenly party we’ll share together one day in the presence of our heavenly Lord and Savior.
Rock on Uncle Henry! Grace, Love, Peace & JOY, Janelle Tapphorn Langlois
