Henry Grady McBurnett's Obituary
Henry “Grady” McBurnett August 20, 1942 – April 16, 2026
Henry Grady McBurnett, known to everyone simply as Grady, passed away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on August 20, 1942, Grady lived a full, hardworking, and deeply devoted life—one marked by loyalty, humor, and a love for the outdoors that he shared with everyone around him.
Grady is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Dana McBurnett, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, laughter, and adventure. He is also survived by his children: Michelle Peck and her husband Randy, Michael McBurnett and his wife Katie, and Matthew McBurnett and his wife Mariah.
He leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren: Rachel Scheve and her husband Caleb, Aaron Koskey and his wife Kenzie, Sarah Koskey, Kyle McBurnett, and Roselynn McBurnett; as well as great‑grandchildren who brought him endless joy: Eli Scheve, Ila Grace Scheve, Madi Scheve, Annie Scheve, Rory McBurnett, and Krew Koskey. Grady is also survived by his longtime fishing buddy, Paul Lucy, who shared countless early mornings, tall tales, and quiet moments on the water.
Grady worked in the pipeline industry beginning in 1973, building a career defined by expertise, grit, and a reputation that kept customers calling him back—even after he retired three separate times. His work ethic was unmatched, and his dedication earned him the respect of colleagues across decades.
Outside of work, Grady was happiest outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and for many years a devoted golfer—until the day he traded his clubs for a fishing pole and never looked back. The lake was his sanctuary, and the friends he made there became family. He loved his dogs dearly and was known for sharing snacks with them as generously as he spoiled his grandchildren. There was rarely a moment when one of them wasn’t in his lap.
Above all, Grady loved his family. Dana was the center of his world, and time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. His strong personality, quick wit, and big heart made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South BA Baptist Church, a community that meant a great deal to Grady.
Grady lived boldly, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and laughter. He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
