Homer I. Still's Obituary
Homer Ibson Still, 71, of Gunter, TX passed away on Sunday, June 25th, 2017 in McKinney, TX. He was born on October 3, 1945 to Homer Hastings and Bertha Mae (Ragan) Still in Tulsa, OK and lived most of his life in the Tulsa area. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1963. He went to Oklahoma Military Academy and graduated in 1965. He graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in History from Oklahoma State University in 1969. He served in the United States Army and went to Vietnam in 1970-1972. At Oklahoma Military Academy, he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and played on the football team that finished National Runner-Up. He was also a member of the Son’s of the American Revolution and named Outstanding Cadet in 1965. After the military, he had an esteemed career in leadership and management. He worked for IBM as a Senior Partner in Tulsa and Kansas City, at American Airlines as a Project Manager in Tulsa and Dallas, at Sabre as a Project Manager in the Dallas, TX area, and at Capital One as a Project Manager in VA. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Gainesville, TX. He was actively involved in the choir and church events. He also participated in local theatre productions. He is survived by his five children: Sarisa Orange of Tulsa, OK, Walter Still and wife Barbara of Tulsa, OK, Joshua Still and wife Erica of Stillwater, OK, Homer “Bud” Still of Oklahoma City, OK and Quillie “Beth” Still of North Richland Hills, TX. His six grandchildren: Geoff and Sam Orange of Tulsa, OK, Lauren and Luke Still of Tulsa, OK, Mason and Claire Still of Stillwater, OK. One sibling: Nancy Still of Tulsa, OK. He is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial service: St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Gainesville, TX on Thursday, June 29th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.. He will be buried privately at his family plot at Memorial Park in Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
