Hope Roy's Obituary
Virginia “Hope” Hulett Roy was born May 25, 1923 at home in Chariton Township in Randolph County, Missouri to Matthew and Esther Hulett. She was welcomed by her sister, Berniece Bell Hulett and brother, Otis Forrest Hulett. Fred Laverne Hulett completed the family six years later.Hope passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2019 in her home at The Parke Assisted Living Center surrounded by family and friends. She was 95 years old.She married Harold Buford Roy on Friday, December 13, 1946 in Independence, Missouri. The couple was blessed with three children: David, Helen, and Susan. Hope and Harold were married for 62 years.Hope was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Esther; brother, Otis; sister, Berniece, and husband, Harold.She is survived by her brother, Fred; son, David Roy and his wife, Laura; daughter, Helen Bumpass and her husband, Dave; and daughter, Susan Ward and her husband, Jerry; six grandchildren, Andrea Bumpass Ballew and husband, Mike; Jessica Bumpass Watson and husband, Brad; Christina Roy Hall and husband, Shannon; Justin Ward and wife, Sandra; Jason Roy and wife, Sandy; and Amy Ward Newcomb and husband, Josh. Hope had nine great-grandchildren: Bront and Brinley Ballew; Graeme and Luke Ward; Logan and Colin Hall; Gentry and Jaxon Newcomb; and Jocelyn “Joey” Roy, as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews.A devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Hope enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, quilting, cooking, canning and gardening. She loved hiking and collecting rocks, driftwood and flowers. And according to her family, she made the best molasses cookies in the world!Hope touched the lives of many people and she will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.Visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2019, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
