He enlisted in the Navy at 17 in March of 1945 where he served until August of 1946. The next year in July he enrolled at Oklahoma Baptist University, only lacking 12 credits to graduate. Howard worked in the oil field for about 5 years, with Bell and Howell and was in sales for 30+ years. He also obtained his pilot’s license.
On Dec. 28, 1952 he married the love of his life, Mollie Ann Deal. They were married for almost 60 years. They had two sons, Mark and Scott.

Howard was a faithful member of Eastwood Baptist Church for over 40 years. He served as an usher and greeter until his health did not allow him to do so. He was a Sunday School member and a member of a men’s small group. Howard knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He is in the presence of the Lord right now. His favorite Bible Verse is:
…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will…Ephesians 1:4–5
His final words on the notes for this obituary are a fitting close for this man of faith: [I] “was blessed by God every day, my whole life.”
