Hurley William Kyte's Obituary
Hurley W. Kyte, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma for 50 years, passed away on Friday, January 22, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Columbia, Missouri, June 21, 1923. He served in WWII with the Timberwolves, liberating both France and North Belgium. After the war, he met and married his wife, Mildred Lloyd, in Kansas City, Missouri. After having their first child Katherine, Hurley enlisted in the United States Air Force where he rose to the rank of MSgt. While stationed in Edinburg, Scotland, Karla was born, and 18 months later, while stationed in San Antonio, Texas, Steven was born. Hurley was a strong family man who decided to take his family with him during travels and reassignments in his military service. Hurley was stationed in Germany for a total of 6 years where he moved his family with him in order to keep them close. He retired from the USAF after 20 years of service and began his career in communications in the private sector. Hurley retired from US Sprint as Assistant Vice-President in 1986. After retirement, he devoted his time to volunteering for his church, Contemporary Christian Center, as the financial manager, and where he functioned in the office of Priest to which he was ordained in 1974. Hurley was a man of God who loved his Lord and family. Hurley is preceded by his wife, Mildred, and son, Steven Kyte; mother Grace Daugherty; Father, John Kyte; and brother, Harold Kyte. He is survived by 2 daughters, Katherine Cohea and Karla Coulson; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Cohea, Rebekah Tran, Elissa Ackerman, and Joshua Coulson and spouses; and 2 great-grandchildren, Christopher Cohea Jr. and Theodore Ackerman. Family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at the Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma followed by interment, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
