Ingeborg Etherton's Obituary
Ingeborg H. Etherton (Dotterer) passed away on July 10, 2026, at her home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on May 19 in Mannheim, Germany, to Wilhelm Dotterer and Irene Anderson (Seitz). At the age of 19, she immigrated to the United States with her mother, Irene Anderson (Seitz), her stepfather, James Anderson, and her brother, Willie Dotterer.
Inge married Robert Etherton in 1961, and together they had two children, Steven and Deborah Etherton. She became a U.S. citizen in 1967. Around 1977, Inge and Robert divorced, and she continued raising their two children. She worked for Motorola for more than 35 years as a quality control technician in the cell phone division. After her divorce, she worked a second job at a German restaurant to support herself and her children. Inge was always an exceptionally hard worker.
At the age of 60, Inge retired and moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to live with her son, Steven. Shortly after retiring, she began experiencing numerous health problems, but she always fought through them with a strong will to live.
Inge enjoyed traveling, going on cruises with friends, and visiting Germany to spend time with her relatives. She always remembered everyone's birthday and made every effort to ensure no one felt left out, diligently sending cards and gifts to family and friends. Inge loved knitting sweaters and crocheting afghans while watching television. It often seemed she could complete a sweater or crochet an afghan in little more than a week. If someone had a special request, she would gladly make it for them. She shared her handmade creations with family and friends as her way of showing love, and it brought her great joy knowing how much people appreciated her hard work.
Inge also enjoyed planting flowers every year whenever she was able. She loved watching the birds during both the summer and winter months. Her favorite bird was the hummingbird, and she put out the hummingbird feeder at just the right time every year. She found great peace in sitting on her back patio, watching nature and God's creation. Inge will be deeply missed for her beautiful smile, the twinkle in her eyes, and her unwavering love for family and friends.
Predeceased by her father, Wilhelm Dotterer; her mother, Irene Anderson (Seitz); her stepfather, James Anderson; her brother, Willie Dotterer; her sister, Christa Dotterer (Poppe); her former husband, Robert Etherton; and her daughter, Deborah Etherton.
Survived by: her son, Steven Etherton and his wife, Penny, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her brother, Eric Anderson and his wife, Jeanne, of Belvidere, Illinois; her sister, Karen Scheider (Dotterer) and her husband, Karlheinz, of Mannheim, Germany; her step-grandchildren, Jennifer Price and Sarah Hodge; her step-great-grandchildren, Clio and Noah; and many nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
