Iona Kilgore's Obituary
Kilgore – Iona, 86 was called home to be with her Heavenly Father September 9, 2009. A long-time Tulsa resident, she was born January 2, 1923 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. She was married to Charles Lee Kilgore for 57 years who passed away May 12, 2003. She worked for the Tulsa Public Schools until retirement. Survived by her daughter Sharon Kay and husband Dennis Hamblin, her son Michael and wife Debra Kilgore, four grand-children Dana Hamblin, Charles, Stacy, and Kari Kilgore all of Tulsa. When she wasn’t with her family, she devoted her time to her friends, Eastern Star Chapter Martha Daylight and Eastern Star Chapter Friendship both in Tulsa. She became an Eastern Star member at the Catoosa Chapter in November 1964. She is a past Matron of Catoosa. She was a Grand Officer (Grand Electa) of Oklahoma in 1990. She joined Martha Daylight in 1994 and she was a past Matron of Martha Daylight. In 2003, she had a dual-membership with the Martha Daylight and Friendship chapter in Tulsa currently the Chaplain of the Friendship Chapter. Her last duties at the end of the Friendship meeting, she closed the meetings with prayer at the altar. Iona will be missed by all. To know her was to love her. She was a kind, gentle, and encouraging woman. Service celebrating her life will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
