Iva Lorene Hollabaugh's Obituary
Lorene (Perkins) Hollabaugh passed away August 17, 2016 at Clarehouse in Tulsa at the age of 93. She was born February 17, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to George and Pearl (Shahan) Perkins. She graduated from Union Consolidated School in 1941. Grades 1-12 were all housed in one brick building. Union Consolidated is now Union Schools in Tulsa. In 1942, she graduated from Tulsa Business College and began work as an executive secretary for the Brown Dunkin Department Store in downtown Tulsa.On August 30, 1949, Lorene married her high school sweetheart, Glyn Hollabaugh. The couple moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Glyn attended dental school at Washington University. Lorene worked for Mr. Wohl, at the Wohl Shoe Company. In 1953, when Glyn opened his dental practice, she was his first dental assistant and office manager at his Springfield and Broken Arrow offices. Years later, she returned to manage the dental office before Glyn’s retirement due to illness. Lorene loved the holidays when the Perkins and Hollabaugh extended families gathered at her house for holiday meals. She was an excellent cook. Her strawberry cake was every ones favorite. Lorene was a loving mother and grandmother. She drove countless miles taking her children and grandchildren to activities and lessons. Glyn loved the outdoors and camping, Lorene not so much. Her idea of camping was enjoying the view from the window of a “Holiday Inn.” Lorene and Glyn enjoyed playing cards. Wednesday night Bridge with the Campbells was a favorite as was Canasta with Marie and Troy.She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl (Shahan) Perkins; her husband, Dr. Glyn Hollabaugh; sister, Marie Cosper; brother Harold Perkins and sister-in-law, Vera Perkins.Survivors include her son, Glyn L. Hollabaugh and Denise Batchelor; daughter, Susan Minnick and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Steven Hollabaugh and wife, Megan, Sarah Bruckerhoff and husband, Justin, Mandy Minnick Hughes and husband, Anthony, Meredith Schenk and husband, William, Mitchell Minnick and wife, Brockette and Matthew Minnick; great grandchildren, Kaylee Minnick, Chloe Hughes, Alyson Schenk, Colin Schenk, Luci Minnick and Emmi Minnick; sister, Molly (Hollabaugh) Volz and husband, Col (Ret.) David; brother-in-law, Troy Cosper; nieces, Glenda Cosper and Desiree Volz; nephew, David Perkins and wife, Cheryl; great nieces, Lori Wentzlaff and Angela Majors; great nephew, Tyler Volz.Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 19th and the family will great friends that evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow.Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Perry Cox officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Clarehouse 7617 S. Mingo Road Tulsa.
