J. D. Moss' Obituary
J.D. Moss “Grandpa”, 89 passed away June 2, 2004 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Stigler, Oklahoma on March 7, 1915 to John and Agnes Moss. J.D. grew up in Tamaha, OK where he met and married his sweetheart Reba Hisaw Moss on May 21, 1938 and they enjoyed 66 wonderful years together. J.D. was the most loving husband and father anyone could ask for. He doted on his grandchildren and he adored all of his “great-grands”. A carpenter by trade, J.D. spent the last part of his career renovating the Kennedy Building for Deppe Construction Company. “Grandpa” was happiest outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent his retirement years at the home he and his family built at Whitehorn Cove on Ft. Gibson Lake. He could regularly be found at the Cafe having coffee with friends and exchanging fish tales. He is also survived by his 7 lucky grandchildren, Mark Harrison and wife Tina, Tami Benson and husband Steve, Leslie Dick, Mike Moss and wife Tammy, Karen Harrison Holt and husband Brock, Bob Dick, Leigh Ann Moss and husband Eric Sherburn; his “adopted” grandchildren, Ric Douthat and wife Tricia and their 4 children, Diane Douthat, Laura Pahuski and Tino Olivas; and his 10 great grandchildren, Geoffrey Harrison, Molly and Patrick Benson, Spencer and Elliott Hollaway, Madeleine and Claire Sherburn, Hallie Moss and Adrian and Trevor Holt and 1 sister, Eva Frazier Forrester.
