Jack Calvin Coursey
November 14th, 1923 -> July 2nd, 2023 (Age 99)
Jack Calvin Coursey, fondly referred to as Grumps, was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma November 14th 1923 to parents Alfred Coursey and Jessie Beal Coursey. Jack left this world to be with his heavenly father on July 2nd, 2023 resting peacefully at St. Francis Hospital, in Tulsa Oklahoma, he was 99 years of age.
Jack graduated from Central High School in Tulsa Oklahoma. He served in England and North Africa during World War II as a Tail Gunner in the Army Air Core. Jack married Bonnie Reavis March 26th, 1946. Jack was a hard worker, he was a firefighter, worked in the auto industry and retired as a service manager at Crow Brothers Toyota down the street from where he lived most of his life. You would often hear him singing or humming, he loved singing, he was a member of the Tulsa Founders Chorus and sang in his church choirs. It was rare to see him slow down or not doing something. He loved tinkering with things, fixing all sorts of stuff and playing golf. He was a humble man but his golf buddies would tell you he was quite the golfer, shooting below his age into his 80's. He loved getting together with family nearly every month and seeing his great grandkids. He would tell you it was easy because we were serving food! Jack always had a smile, preferred hugs over hand shakes and brightened every room he walked into!
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Jessie Coursey. Wife Bonnie Coursey, 4 sisters and 1 brother and his son Jack David. He was survived by Daughter Sherry Ryer, Daughter in law Sue Ann Coursey, grandchildren Trey Coursey and his wife Laurie. Jon Coursey and wife Heather all from Broken Arrow Oklahoma. Mark Ryer and wife Arlene of Granit Falls, Washington, Karen Labeau-Ryer and wife Beth of Carrollton Texas. Great grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary and Colton Coursey. Cassie and husband Sebastian Klinefelter. Spencer, Tyler and wife Aline, Christopher Ryer, Sister Lavenia Bingham, nieces, nephews and his sweetheart Bernice Trotter.
Jack's service will be held at Ranch Acres Baptist Church, Monday July 10th at 10:00 am. The visitation will be Sunday evening July 9th from 2-4 PM at Floral Haven funeral home.
