From the first time I met Coach Gilbreath, he was my friend. I was coaching at Beggs, and he was coaching at Catoosa. We had a great game. After it, he came to talk to my boys. He told them that they had a chance to win it all if they continued to work hard. I had so much respect for him. He thought about my team, because he cared about the kids. He saw something in them, and it meant a lot to me and the team for a great coach like him to share those motivational words. All it took was one meeting, and I had a lifelong friend in Coach Gilbreath. There are many coaches and players who have benefited from his knowledge and his friendship. His legacy will always remain on the playing fields throughout the state and in the lives of his players and fellow coaches.
